How to Prepare for Your Notarization

A short checklist so your appointment is quick and nothing needs to be redone.

1. Bring acceptable ID

Every signer needs a current government photo ID with a signature, such as:

  • Driver's license or state ID card
  • U.S. passport or passport card
  • Military ID
  • Foreign passport or qualifying consular ID

The name on the ID should match the name on the document. If it does not, or if you do not have ID, call us before booking.

2. Get your document ready

  • Bring the complete document, every page
  • Fill in all blanks, or write "N/A" where something does not apply
  • Do not sign ahead of time unless you were told to
  • Know which pages need notarizing, if there are many
  • Bring extra copies if the receiver wants more than one original

3. Arrange witnesses, if needed

Some documents require witnesses in addition to the notary. Check the document's instructions. Witnesses usually need their own ID and should not be named in or benefit from the document.

4. For online sessions

  • Device with camera and microphone, fully charged
  • Steady internet and a quiet room with good lighting
  • Your ID within reach
  • Your document as a PDF, sent ahead of time

5. Payment

We accept major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Cash App through Square. Your total is confirmed before the appointment.

Still unsure? Text a photo of the first page and the signature page to (872) 231-2160 and we will tell you what you need.
